Teaming in Iceland for Personalized Prevention Task
March 24, 2026
This month, Task 8.2.2 continues to advance the development of the Cancer Prevention Hub model, with a strong focus on translating prevention strategies into practical, implementable approaches within Comprehensive Cancer Centres (CCCs).
Work is progressing across the risk factor subgroups, covering key areas such as tobacco cessation, HPV and vaccination, lifestyle factors including environmental and genetic risk. The objective is to structure these into risk-stratified prevention pathways that can be integrated into clinical workflows and aligned with the European Code Against Cancer (ECAC).
In parallel, insights from the recent Iceland teaming activity have supported the alignment of approaches across centres, particularly regarding the integration of prevention into routine hospital practice. Current efforts are focused on refining the framework of the Cancer Prevention Hub, strengthening collaboration between partners and preparing the next phase of work, which will emphasize implementation, capacity building and scalability across CCCs.
